Norbrook offers product donations to BDMLR Cornwall Seal Pup Hospital

Norbrook Laboratories has been offering lifesaving rehydration products to help the work done by the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDLMR) Cornwall Seal Pup Hospital.

Ahead of the hospital's peak winter season, Norbrook has donated a supply of Life-Aid Xtra – an oral rehydration product indicated for the reversal of dehydration, electrolyte loss and acidosis – to help the hospital rescue marine animals in distress around the UK.

More than 100 seal pups have been treated at the hospital in the past two years, with these animals often becoming separated from their mothers and suffering serious injuries in stormy weather.

Life-Aid Xtra can be lifesaving for pups suffering from hypothermia or low blood glucose levels, with volunteers from the hospital using stomach tubes to administer the treatment to distressed pups on the beach, stabilising them before they are taken to the hospital.

Chris Geddes, marketing manager for Norbrook Laboratories, said: "We recognise the vital work that BDMLR carries out to ensure the conservation of our marine wildlife across England, Wales and Scotland and we are delighted to help when we can."

Norbrook has been providing the hospital with product donations such as antibiotic and anti-inflammatory injections for the last two years.
