Achaogen appoints Halley Gilbert to board of directors
Achaogen, a specialist in novel antibacterials addressing multi-drug resistant (MDR) gram-negative infections, has appointed Halley Gilbert to its board of directors.
Ms Gilbert, who is currently senior vice-president and chief legal officer at Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, has more than two decades of experience in assisting biopharmaceutical companies
Chief executive officer at Achaogen Kenneth Hillan welcomed her arrival, noting it comes at an "exciting time" for the company. It is currently seeking regulatory approval for plazomicin, designed to treat serious bacterial infections due to MDR Enterobacteriaceae, including carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae.
"Halley’s seasoned judgment and success helping biotechnology companies build and integrate critical functions and bring new products to market will be invaluable to Achaogen," he remarked.
Prior to joining Ironwood Pharmaceuticals in 2008, Ms Gilbert held the position of deputy general counsel at Cubist Pharmaceuticals.
She said she is looking forward to working with the existing board members at Achaogen and advancing the company's "pipeline of promising candidates".
