Qiagen purchases software company OmicSoft
Qiagen has announced the acquisition of the software company OmicSoft, a deal that will strengthen its bioinformatics portfolio.
OmicSoft is a provider of multi-omics data management infrastructure solutions, as well as expertly curated omics datasets. This enables scientists and researchers to manage their own research findings and compare it to information from databases such as the Cancer Genome Atlas.
The acquisition will enhance the Qiagen bioinformatics portfolio by adding key features for the management, analysis and sharing of both primary data and analysed results, while also expanding the range of Qiagen's translational and clinical applications.
Following the takeover, OmicSoft will operate as a Qiagen subsidiary from its headquarters in the Research Triangle region of North Carolina. Its co-founder and president Dr Jack Liu will remain in place and will lead future product development of the OmicSoft portfolio.
Peer Schatz, chief executive officer of Qiagen, said: "The addition of OmicSoft to Qiagen's portfolio of sample-to-insight solutions reinforces our position as the gold standard for analysis and interpretation of complex biological data across many different disciplines."
