Agilent names new head of strategy and corporate development

Agilent Technologies has announced the appointment of Samraat Raha as its new senior vice-president of strategy and corporate development.

Mr Raha will serve as Agilent's strategic lead and advisor to chief executive officer Mike McMullen and his executive team, helping to develop the company's overall growth strategy, including leading its mergers and acquisition plans on a global basis.

He joins the organisation from Illumina, where he most recently served as vice-president of global marketing, with responsibility for product management, clinical and corporate marketing, marketing operations and strategy.

Prior to this, Mr Raha's career included stints as vice-president and general manager of the genomic assays business unit at Life Technologies, and as chief executive officer of Joby, a camera accessories company. He also spent some of his early career at Agilent, and is returning to the business to help it achieve its ambitious growth targets.

Mr McMullen said Mr Raha "joins us with an impressive portfolio of relevant experience in general and operational management, marketing and strategy that builds on a foundation of life sciences knowledge".
