Owen Mumford wins Queen’s Award for innovation

Owen Mumford has been recognised for its years of business success with a Queen's Award for Enterprise.

The awards scheme is the UK's highest business accolade, with Owen Mumford winning in the innovation category based on its outstanding and sustained commercial success over an extended period.

Winners were chosen by Queen Elizabeth on advice of the former prime minister David Cameron. Owen Mumford won praise for its innovations in medical device design and manufacturing, and the positive impact these have had on improving quality of life, encouraging adherence to treatment and reducing healthcare costs.

Specific recognition was given to its work developing injection pen needles such as the Unifine Pentips Plus brand, which have helped improve therapeutic adherence among diabetes patients, with sales of the device rising by 52 percent over the past two years.

Jarl Severn, managing director at Owen Mumford, said: "We are delighted that our 65-year history of world-firsts in device solutions have been recognised by the former prime minister and the Queen."
