Align Technology reports record results for first quarter of 2017
Align Technology has announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2017, during which it surpassed internal expectations to deliver another record-breaking performance.
The company's revenues came to $310.3 million (239.99 million pounds), which represents a year-on-year increase of 30 percent. Profits and earnings were also up, thanks to the continued strong performance of the flagship Invisalign brand.
Invisalign case shipments in the first quarter totalled 208,100, a 27.1 percent increase year over year and a 9.5 percent rise on the previous quarter, with international sales and the growth of the teenage customer demographic cited as key contributors.
Meanwhile, iTero scanner revenues were down on the previous quarter as expected, but increased 47 percent year over year.
In the second quarter, Align expects net revenues in the range of $340 million to $345 million, up approximately 26 to 28 percent over the same period a year ago.
Align Technology president and chief executive officer Joe Hogan said: "2017 is off to a great start, with first-quarter revenues, volumes, gross margin and earnings per share above our expectations."
