Axon names former Tonic Life boss as PR director

Axon has announced the appointment of Mary Smiddy as a new director within the agency's PR team.

Ms Smiddy is the former chief executive officer of Tonic Life Communications, and previously founded Burson Marsteller and Edelman's healthcare PR network in the Middle East, as well as serving as GlaxoSmithKline's regional director of communications for the Middle East and North Africa.

She has a proven track record of strategic positioning, issues management and stakeholder engagement, while also overseeing numerous patient advocacy initiatives, which is an area of continued focus for Axon.

Having commenced her career as an intensive care nurse in Dublin, Ms Smiddy has led international programmes to support pharmaceutical products in numerous therapeutic fields, including cardiology, immunology, central nervous system conditions and oncology.
