Amgen to present new Repatha study data at 2017 ESC Congress

Amgen has announced that new data from the Repatha clinical trial programme will be presented at this year's European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress.

During the conference in Barcelona from August 26th to 30th, the company will share efficacy and safety analyses from the Repatha cardiovascular outcomes trial FOURIER and the coronary intravascular ultrasound imaging trial GLAGOV.

These findings will demonstrate the effect of Repatha on cardiovascular outcomes in patients with a history of stroke, as well as the efficacy and safety of reducing low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels with Amgen's drug.

In total, these analyses will evaluate the effect of Repatha in more than 5,000 patients with a history of stroke.

Dr Sean Harper, executive vice-president of research and development at Amgen, said: "We look forward to sharing the breadth of data demonstrating Repatha's ability to lower LDL cholesterol and reduce cardiovascular events, including the effect of Repatha in patients with a history of stroke."

Repatha has been approved in more than 50 countries, with applications in other nations currently pending.
