Biotronik study underlines further benefits of Orsiro stent
Biotronik has announced the findings of a new clinical trial that offers further evidence of the robust performance of its Orsiro drug-eluting stent.
The company has shared the results of the BIOFLOW-V trial at the 2017 European Society of Cardiology Congress, with the study conducted to compare the performance of Orsiro with an established rival.
Statistically significant improved clinical outcomes in percutaneous coronary intervention were associated with the use of the Orsiro stent, while it was also shown to offer exceptional deliverability thanks to its ultrathin struts, bioresorbable polymer and proven antiproliferative drug.
Orsiro is currently commercially available in more than 100 countries worldwide, with this new study conducted to support Biotronik's application for US approval of the device. The results showed its advantages over a stent that has served as a standard in interventional cardiology.
Marlou Janssen, president of Biotronik, said: "Where Orsiro is available around the world, hospitals, physicians and patients can confidently rely on this drug-eluting stent to deliver exceptional results."
