Siemens Healthineers staffers nominated for 2017 German Future Prize
Siemens Healthineers has announced that two of its visualisation experts have been nominated for the prestigious 2017 German Future Prize.
Dr Klaus Engel and Dr Robert Schneider have been shortlisted for the accolade as part of a team with Professor Franz Fellner, head of the Central Radiology Institute at Kepler University Hospital in Linz, and extraordinary professor at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg.
They have been honoured for their work in the development of the visualisation technology Cinematic Rendering, which offers photorealistic 3D representations of the human body from the output of CT and MRI scans to simplify communication between physicians and patients, or between radiologists and referring clinicians.
The trio are one of three research teams in contention for the award, which will be presented by German president Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier on November 29th in Berlin.
Dr Bernd Montag, chief executive officer of Siemens Healthineers, said: "The nomination of two of our leading visualisation experts and one of our clinical research partners for the German Future Prize is a great honour for our company – and a testament to our sustained investment in innovation."
