Sanofi names new head of diabetes and cardiovascular business
Sanofi has announced the promotion of Stefan Oelrich to the role of executive vice-president of its diabetes and cardiovascular (DCV) business unit with immediate effect.
Mr Oelrich has served as head of Sanofi's global diabetes franchise since June 2016 and as acting head of the North American DCV business since July this year. He will continue to lead both functions on an interim basis until successors are named.
Previously, he was the European regional head of the DCV business and Sanofi's European coordinator, and has played a key role in establishing the DCV global business unit since mid-2015.
Prior to joining Sanofi, Mr Oelrich held positions of increasing responsibility and leadership at Bayer, with roles spanning Latin America, Europe and the US.
Olivier Brandicourt, Sanofi's chief executive officer, said: "As one of the architects of our diabetes and cardiovascular business unit, I am confident Stefan will succeed in driving our strategy forward in the coming years."
