Alcon receives CE Mark for AutonoMe intraocular lens delivery system

Alcon has announced that its AutonoMe preloaded intraocular lens (IOL) delivery system has received European CE Mark approval.

This first-of-its-kind disposable delivery system that enables precise delivery of the Clareon IOL into the capsular bag of patients undergoing cataract surgery. The Clareon IOL device offers a new biomaterial with an advanced design to enable sharper vision and low edge glare.

Key benefits of AutonoMe include its automated CO2-powered delivery mechanism and intuitive, ergonomic design, allowing precise and simplified single-handed control of IOL placement during cataract surgery.

Mike Ball, chief executive officer at Alcon, said: "With the introduction of Clareon AutonoMe, we are proud to unveil our latest innovations to benefit doctors and their patients undergoing cataract surgery."

These new innovations are being presented at this year's congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons – which is taking place from October 7th to 11th in Lisbon, Portugal – along with supporting scientific data underlining the benefits of the technology.
