Ferring purchases ZomaJet auto-injector rights from Antares Pharma

Ferring is acquiring the rights to the ZomaJet needle-free injector device, a move that will strengthen its Zomacton growth hormone franchise.

The company has signed a definitive agreement with Antares Pharma to acquire the worldwide rights for the ZomaJet auto-injector, which is used to deliver Zomacton for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency in children and Turner syndrome in girls.

It has been shown to help increase adherence to treatment through its needle-free design and the ability to self-administer therapy, thus enhancing the quality of life and care for children with growth disorders.

Antares will continue to manufacture and supply ZomaJet until the completion of existing supply arrangements at the end of 2018. The deal will help Ferring to consolidate its Zomacton franchise.

Michel Pettigrew, president of the executive board and chief operating officer at Ferring Pharmaceuticals, said: "ZomaJet addresses the common problem of needle fear in children, lowering the burden for patients and caregivers and leading to better adherence to treatment."
