Leica partners with CSSB on cryo-imaging alliance
Leica has announced a new partnership with the Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB), focused in the field of cryo-imaging.
The organisations will come together to develop new integrated cryo-imaging solutions and establish an advanced microscopy facility, in order to push forward the boundaries of laboratory science.
Cryo-electron microscopy involves deep-freezing biological samples to allow them to be examined in their native state at high resolution, offering insights into infection processes in viruses and to allow molecules to be examined directly in their native cellular environment.
Christoph Thumser, sales director for life science research at Leica, said: "We are delighted to announce the CSSB as our partner. Their combined expertise in cryo-EM and light microscopy, along with their deep knowledge in structural biology, will be invaluable to the collaboration as we further develop our solutions."
The CSSB is a new research centre supported by ten partners from northern Germany, including three universities and six research institutes, with the aim of fostering a leading international research centre in the German city of Hamburg.
