Qiagen outlines plans for expanded next-generation sequencing range in 2018

Qiagen has announced a series of product and service enhancements to its next-generation sequencing (NGS) portfolio that have been planned for 2018.

Coinciding with the launch of a new Enterprise Genomics Services offering to customers for the customisation of gene panels, Qiagen will be building on its rapidly-growing presence in the NGS market with several new additions.

These include an upgraded GeneReader NGS chemistry, set for launch based on proprietary formulations, and the release of the GeneRead QIAact Myeloid panel to aid the detection of leukaemia.

The firm will also be ramping up the availability of its GeneReader QIAact Custom Panels for the GeneReader NGS System, and adding extra relevant genes to the GeneRead QIAact BRCA 1/2 and the GeneReader QIAact Actionable Insights tumour panels.

With these new additions, Qiagen hopes to exceed $140 million (GBP 101.47 million) in 2018 sales from this portfolio, up from around $115 million in 2017.
