Nestle recognised as world leader on climate change action

31st January 2018

Nestle has been named as one of the world's leading organisations in terms of its work to reduce its climate change impact through its supply chain.

CDP's Global Supply Chain Report for 2017 has included Nestle as one of the 29 companies to receive top marks through the not-for-profit organisation's Supplier Engagement Rating. This underlines Nestle's commitment to working with suppliers to reduce emissions and lower climate-related risks in its supply chain.

This marks the second year in a row that Nestle has earned a place on CDP's supplier engagement leaderboard, reflecting its commitment to climate change leadership as part of its goal of enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier future.

In total, the companies disclosing their data to CDP have been able to reduce their CO2 emissions by 434 million tonnes over the last year, which is more than France's annual global greenhouse gas emissions.

Patricia Espinosa, executive secretary for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, said the report was a "testament to the resourcefulness of global suppliers to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and water footprint, while benefiting the business, customers and communities".
