Pfizer names medical scientist as new board member

Pfizer has announced the appointment of Dr Dan Littman to its board of directors and as a member of its corporate governance and science and technology committees.

Dr Littman is a renowned medical scientist who currently serves as professor of molecular immunology at the Skirball Institute of Biomolecular Medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center, as well as working as an investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

Additionally, he is a member of the National Academy of the Sciences and the Institute of Medicine, and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Academy of Microbiology.

His expertise in the field of immunology will prove particularly beneficial in his new role at Pfizer.

Ian Read, chairman and chief executive officer of Pfizer, said: "Dr Littman has made extraordinary scientific contributions throughout his career and will be a tremendous asset to the company. The addition of Dan to the board helps to ensure that Pfizer will continue to benefit from a breadth and diversity of experience."
