Ferring partners with Imperial College London on preterm birth research

15th March 2018

Ferring has announced that it will be helping to establish a new Prematurity Research Centre at Imperial College London as part of its ongoing collaboration with March of Dimes.

The maternal health organisation has selected Imperial College London as the first European partner to join its global Prematurity Research Centre network, which has been established to identify the causes of preterm birth and new ways to prevent it.

Ferring will support the establishment of the new centre with a grant, in line with its broad commitment to advancing research to help prevent the 15 million preterm births estimated to take place each year worldwide.

Imperial College London will operate the centre in partnership with three major London hospitals: Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea, St Mary's Hospital, and Chelsea and Westminster. Each of these facilities deliver around 5,000 babies a year.

Per Falk, executive vice-president and chief science officer of Ferring Pharmaceuticals, said: "We believe that this new centre will accelerate the development of new healthcare solutions that are urgently needed to help babies that are born earlier than expected."
