The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons has announced new regulations in relation to the distribution of parasite control treatments.

The regulations enforced as of January 12th state that all animals must attend an in-person assessment before prescription medications are given out.

The new rules will guarantee companions receive the most suitable care by mandating a comprehensive health evaluation before administering antiparasitic consumables.

After the assessment, animal health experts can now append a prescription to a pet’s medical history during the consultation. This modification will facilitate the administration of flea and worm treatment for up to a year.

Pet owners have been advised to secure their consultation, making sure that their pets stay shielded from parasites all through the year.
