Pacira BioSciences, a pharmaceutical firm, has unveiled their findings following their final stage study for its nerve blocker drug prospect.

The outcomes follow their stage three study, which included just over 180 individuals undergoing an operation called a bunionectomy.

The research hit its key objective of pain management four days post-operation, with a significant change of just over 40% in pain ratings.

“Importantly, the use of EXPAREL as a sciatic nerve block in the popliteal fossa affords clinicians additional flexibility in their opioid-sparing pain management approaches for foot and ankle procedures, which continue to migrate to the outpatient environment where success is predicated on the ability to provide appropriate pain control without the need for a significant opioid burden.”
