Agilent to present thought leadership award to drug discovery researcher
Agilent Technologies has presented an Agilent Thought Leader Award to the pioneering drug discovery researcher Professor Jiandong Jiang.
Professor Jiang serves as director of Beijing's Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, and is an expert in the field of antimicrobial drugs, including viruses and bacteria, cancer therapies and treatments for metabolic syndrome.
The award is being presented in support of his studies on cancer stem cell differentiation induced by natural products, and will help his team to implement metabolite flux analyses, metabolism analyses, and integrated biology approaches to characterise antitumour activity.
In addition to Agilent mass spectrometry solutions, Professor Jiang's lab will also utilise the company's Seahorse XF technology, and its MassHunter and VistaFlux software.
Victor Chan, Agilent's vice-president and general manager of laboratory solutions for Agilent in Greater China, said: "Agilent is proud to continue its support of cancer research with the use of our mass spectrometry systems, bioinformatics software, and metabolic analysis tools to facilitate the identification and characterisation of cancer drugs."
The company presents its Agilent Thought Leader Award to promote fundamental scientific advances by contributing financial support, products and expertise to the research of thought leaders in the life sciences, diagnostics, and applied chemical fields.
