Plans for a new, specialised lab facility have been revealed by Bruntwood SciTech, who plan to invest an additional £60 million into Manchester Science Park and establish more than 2,500 employment opportunities.

The current Greenheys building will be transformed into a bespoke lab facility with a sustainability focus, primarily intended for growing life science companies within diagnostics, genomics, and precision medicine etc.

More than 150 innovative, rapidly expanding SMEs and major, dominating companies in the fields such as biotechnology, diagnostics, digital health, MedTech, and more are located at Manchester Science Park.

Property Director at Bruntwood SciTech, Peter Crowther, explained that “the future success of the UK life science sector is dependent on businesses having access to flexible, specialist workspaces, facilitated direct connections into world-class R&D” and “talent or potential collaboration opportunities.”

The overarching objective of Bruntwood SciTech is to build dedicated environments to facilitate the expansion of the UK’s science and technology industry, enabling more than 40,000 lucrative employment opportunities to come to fruition between now and 2038

Assuming planning permission is granted, the laboratory will be operational as of Spring 2026, with construction beginning to take place this Summer.
