Momentum Receive FDA Approval for AI-based Scoliosis App

21st February 2024

Momentum Health, located in Canada, has received approval from the US FDA for its Momentum Spine app, which allows individuals to track postural asymmetries remotely.

Individuals can upload videos from their phones to the app, and the system will create a 3D image of the torso utilising AI.

The artificial intelligence diagnostic market is expected to hit $908.7 billion in 2030 and is estimated to have made $93 billion last year.

Scoliosis is a medical condition characterised by an abnormal sideways curvature of the spine, and between six and nine million individuals in the US are affected by the condition.

In the future, Momentum looks to add a Cobb Angle measurement feature that will quantify the degree of curvature in a scoliotic spine, which will aid those affected more severely by the condition.
