Role Overview

The Research & Development Scientist, reporting to the Senior R&D Scientist, is tasked with conducting product and new product development activities in adherence to established scientific and regulatory standards. The role involves conducting literature reviews, enhancing experimental design, performing research studies, and analysing experimental data, with a commitment to reporting results in written form according to laboratory standards. This includes ensuring the availability of raw materials for investigative studies and evaluating new equipment, processes, and procedures relevant to the department’s work.

Our client is looking for a motivated individual who wants to go into a Research & Development Scientist role focussed around microbiology. Our client has a specialised product range both through its proprietary entities and an extensive global network of distributors.. Additionally, our client provides quality diagnostic products from globally recognised manufacturers on a country-by-country basis.

Role Requirements

-Carry out product and new product development activities in accordance with established scientific and regulatory standards, such as the European IVD Medical Devices Regulation.
-Conduct literature reviews related to investigations and regulatory submissions, enhance experimental design, and perform research studies, ensuring the availability of raw -materials for investigative studies.
-Prepare evaluations of new equipment, processes, and procedures relevant to the department’s work.
-Ensure all activities adhere to Company design and product development procedures.
-Support senior staff in investigating customer complaints, production problems, and validation studies.
-Collate reference information for investigations and regulatory submissions, maintaining and updating technical records in project files.
-Participate in laboratory project meetings, presenting results and discussing technical matters affecting current projects.
-Provide technical training to laboratory and other personnel, as agreed with senior staff.

Person Specifications

-Possess expertise in a relevant scientific field
-Demonstrated prior experience in laboratory settings
-Proficient in software usage and adept at database management
-Competent in utilising a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft packages
-Established track record of meeting deadlines
-Exceptional attention to detail is essential
