AbbVie appoints general manager for the UK

AbbVie has announced the appointment of Matt Regan as the general manager of its UK business.

Mr Regan is the former general manager for Norway at Abbott, from which AbbVie is a newly-established spin-off that is currently trying to establish itself as an independent pharmaceutical company.

He has been with the Abbott group for more than a decade, serving in important European roles such as regional director for northern Europe for Abbott Diabetes Care and general manager of the Baltic states, reports PMLiVE.

During his time with the company's Norwegian division, Mr Regan helped to set up and lead the Norwegian Industry Association's biosimilars committee, while also strengthening Abbott's position as one of the region's fastest-growing pharmaceutical companies.

As of January 2nd 2013, Abbott's activities will solely be focused on diagnostics, medical devices, nutrition and branded generic therapies, while AbbVie will develop the company's research-based pharmaceutical operations as a separate entity.
