Agilent allied with Toronto University to create metabolomics MRM software

2nd October 2014

Agilent Technologies has announced a new collaboration with the University of Toronto to create a comprehensive metabolomics multiple-reaction monitoring (MRM) library and methodology.

The company will ally with the university's Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research to create the library-software solution, making use of its Infinity 1290 UHPLC and 6460 triple-quadrupole mass spectrometry system.

When combined with Agilent's MassHunter software, it is hoped this library will provide scientists with a robust liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry solution to accelerate the quantification of hundreds of metabolically important compounds for cell biology and disease research.

The project will be overseen by Professor Adam Rosebrock and Dr Amy Caudy, both principal investigators from the Donnelly Centre.

Steve Fischer, market director for Agilent's life science research division, said: "Routine metabolite quantification is an essential component for building a better understanding of how diseases such as cancer and diabetes modify metabolic pathways."

The firm recently named Mike McMullen as its next chief executive officer, succeeding the outgoing Bill Sullivan in March 2015.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801752388-ADNFCR
