Agilent launches new sequencing panels for disease research

Agilent Technologies has launched a number of new HaloPlex next-generation sequencing panels for use in researching cancer and other inherited diseases.

The new selection includes the HaloPlex Cancer Research Panel and the Cardiomyopathy Research Panel, plus predesigned research panels for arrhythmia, ICCG genomic regions, X chromosome, Noonan syndrome and connective tissue disorders.

Designed for use in combination with Agilent's SureDesign and SureCall software, the panels are capable of performing integrated data analysis, mapping and reporting with speed, accuracy and flexibility.

The new products have been designed to address the challenges faced by labs that do not have the time and resources to individually define disease-related genes and incorporate them into custom sequencing panels.

Jacob Thaysen, vice-president and general manager of Agilent's genomics solutions division, said: "We have been working closely with industry experts to develop these targeted disease panels to help these laboratories dramatically improve their workflows and research outcomes."

This comes after the firm launched its new RapidFire 365 High-throughput Mass Spectrometry System earlier this month.
