Agilent selects Keysight as name of new electronic measurement spin-off
Agilent Technologies has announced that the electronic measurement company it expects to spin off later this year will be called Keysight Technologies.
This is the latest phase in the group's plans to separate into two independent businesses in November 2014. Keysight will encompass Agilent's current electronic measurement portfolio, while Agilent will continue to operate in the life sciences, diagnostics and applied markets.
Keysight has been chosen as the name as it conveys the ability to see what others cannot, allowing the company to offer key insights aid understanding of the changing technology landscape.
The new business will be headquartered in Santa Rosa, California and have approximately 9,500 employees in 30 countries.
Ron Nersesian, president and chief executive officer of Keysight, said: "Keysight reflects our rich heritage – a direct line from both Hewlett-Packard's standards of integrity and innovation and Agilent's premier measurement business."
It is thought that splitting the business will ensure both new companies are able to maximise their growth potential.
