Allergan reports second quarter growth
Allergan has hailed the strength of its second quarter financial performance after recording a 10.1 per cent year-on-year growth in total product sales.
The healthcare firm’s sales figure for the three months ending June 30th 2010 was $1.2 billion (753.9 million pounds), thanks to double-digit growth in both its pharmaceutical and medical device business units.
It was also able to secure regulatory approval for a number of new products, including a Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency licence for Botox to be used as a migraine therapy in the UK.
Allergan now expects to achieve a sales total of between $4.6 billion and $4.8 billion for the 2010 full year period.
David Pyott, Allergan’s chairman of the board and chief executive officer, said: “During the second quarter, Allergan continued to deliver strong operating results … as we benefited from a continuing recovery in our cash-pay aesthetics businesses around the world.”
Last month, Allergan appointed Douglas Ingram as the new chief of its Europe, Africa and Middle East business division, with Mr Ingram taking up the new role this week.
