Alstoe launches chewable Tempora for heart failure
Alstoe Animal Health has announced the launch of Tempora, a new treatment for congestive heart failure arising from mitral valve disease among dogs.
The chewable, flavoured spironolactone tablet and can be used alone or in conjunction with standard therapies, counteracting negative consequences of aldosterone production such as myocardial fibrosis and myocardial and vascular remodelling.
Its effective flavouring technology and tablet shape with accurate two and four-way breaks makes Tempora easy to administer and enhances compliance rates, while the product is also intended to be highly affordable.
According to estimates, degenerative mitral valve disease is the underlying cause of 75 percent of chronic heart failure cases among canines, making Tempora a potentially important new therapy option.
Earlier this year, Alstoe was acquired by French company Sogeval, one of the world's fastest growing animal health companies.
This takeover will allow Alstoe to bring a wide range of Sogeval products to the UK, including Tempora, Therios, Kesium, XeDen, Dolagis, Nelio and Pracetam.
