Amgen reports strong revenue growth in Q2 2013
Amgen has published its financial report for the second quarter of 2013, during which it generated a revenue total of $4.68 billion (3.08 billion pounds).
This represented a five percent year-on-year increase, while its product sales rose by nine percent during the period, thanks to strong demand for Enbrel, Neulasta, Xgeva and Prolia.
Amgen was also able to make significant progress with its pipeline developments during the quarter and anticipates multiple data readouts in 2014, including pivotal phase III results for its cholesterol-lowering agent AMG 145 in the first quarter.
For the year as a whole, the firm expects its total revenues to come in at the upper end of the $17.8 billion to $18.2 billion range.
Robert Bradway, chairman and chief executive officer at Amgen, said: "We saw solid product trends during the second quarter and are carrying good momentum into the second half."
Last month, the company strengthened its capabilities with a new cardiovascular disease product collaboration agreement with fellow healthcare company Servier.
