Amgen to present new Prolia data at forthcoming meeting
Amgen is to present a variety of new clinical data on its osteoporosis treatment Prolia at the upcoming American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) annual meeting.
The company will be giving a number of oral and poster presentations pertaining to the drug, which is aimed at patients affected by low bone mineral density.
Among them will be eight-year data from a phase II trial involving postmenopausal women, as well as phase III results showing the drug's safety and efficacy among males.
Prolia has already received regulatory approval in 20 European nations, as well as the US, Canada and Australia, while other global applications are pending.
Dr Catherine Stehman-Breen, vice-president of global development at Amgen, said: "The breadth of data being presented at this year's annual meeting demonstrates Amgen's continued commitment to advancing the scientific understanding of bone biology."
This comes after another Amgen bone disease treatment, Xgeva, was granted regulatory approval in all 27 EU members states last month.
