Ansell launches Gammex non-latex antimicrobial surgical glove
Ansell has announced the launch of its new Gammex non-latex antimicrobial surgical glove in Canada, with a broader global rollout to follow soon.
The product is the first non-latex surgical glove in the company's market-leading product range and incorporates Ansell's proprietary AMT antimicrobial technology to provide protection against hepatitis C, HIV, MRSA and other infections.
Not only does it help to eliminate the risk posed by latex allergies, it can also avoid microbial transmission due to intraoperative glove breaches – incidents which typically go unnoticed by surgeons.
This will build on the existing strength of the Gammex brand, which is the global leader in surgical gloves with more than 100 million pairs being used annually across the world.
Anthony Lopez, president and general business manager at Ansell Medical Solutions, said: "The Gammex non-latex antimicrobial surgical glove is another indication of our commitment to develop clinically relevant products in anticipation of healthcare workers' needs."
In September 2012, the company expanded its product range further through the completion of its acquisition of the personal protective equipment manufacturer Comasec.
