Applied Biosystems announces expansion of mass spectrometry service range

Applied Biosystems has expanded its range of services for laboratories that utilise the company’s mass spectrometry instrument systems with the introduction of three new workflow solutions.

The new services include an expanded web-based solution for remote system diagnosis and monitoring, a maintenance programme for high-performance liquid chromatography systems produced by Agilent Technologies and a software validation consultation service for laboratories operating in regulated environments.

Executive vice-president of Applied Biosystems Mark Stevenson commented: "By expanding our portfolio of specialised service offerings, Applied Biosystems is providing complete workflow solutions, specific to [our customers’] applications."

Mr Stevenson added that the new services allow consumers to increase productivity and realise a greater return on their technology investments.

Expansion of services has occurred in response to an increase in calls from consumers for direct original equipment manufacturer expertise, the company claims.

It was recently announced that Applied Biosystems launched SNPlex, a genotyping service provider programme intended to support scientists in the study of genetic variations.
