Bausch and Lomb and TheraPearl to launch new eye mask

Bausch and Lomb and TheraPearl are allying to market a new eye mask that can aid the treatment of a number of common eye ailments.

The Bausch and Lomb TheraPearl Eye Mask will make its debut next year and can be used as a means of relief from problems such as the most common type of dry eye.

It has been designed to be pliable and reusable, featuring an elegant face-hugging design that stays in place without dripping or leaking, while it can also be used as part of hot and cold therapy by heating or chilling the mask accordingly.

The product will be previewed to US retailers at the forthcoming National Association of Chain Drug Stores annual meeting.

Joe Gordon, general manager of Bausch and Lomb, said: "Bausch and Lomb is committed to delivering effective over-the-counter solutions for consumers who are seeking symptomatic relief from some of the most common and bothersome eye conditions."

This comes after Bausch and Lomb agreed a deal with Mimetogen for an option to license a promising new therapy for dry eye syndrome last month.
