Bausch+Lomb survey shows parents feel confident on certain medical topics
Bausch+Lomb's research into which areas parents feel confident talking to their children about has shown that topics such as smoking, drugs and alcohol are not a problem for the majority.
The study of 800 mothers with a child over the age of ten years revealed that 93 percent have already had a discussion with their kids regarding such issues, with 63 percent saying they are well-prepared to do so.
But Stacy DeBroff, chief executive and founder of Mom Central Consulting, the firm that carried out the survey, noted that certain areas relating to a youngster's self-confidence are more of a problem.
"Wearing makeup and contact lenses are associated with a child's desire to look better and not as closely linked to safety as some of the 'big talks'," she added.
The report showed 33 percent and 21 percent of mothers felt adequately prepared to speak to their children about makeup and contact lenses respectively.
Last month, Bausch+Lomb announced a voluntary recall of a single lot of Murocel Methylcellulose Lubricant Ophthalmic Solution in the US.
