Baxter highlights latest sustainability and community projects

Baxter has provided an update on the measures it has recently employed to improve the environmental performance of its business, while also expanding access to its healthcare products.

The medical company recently installed a trigeneration unit at its manufacturing facility in Toongabbie, Australia, with the aim of enhancing its energy efficiency, and agreed a number of sustainable product transport partnerships across Europe.

Meanwhile, the firm's Chinese division announced a partnership with the Chinese National Institute of Hospital Administration to help enhance access to peritoneal dialysis services among end-stage renal disease sufferers in rural parts of the country.

Baxter also revealed that it provided $56 million (36.55 million pounds) in community donations to various organisations during 2012, while more than 6,500 Baxter employees engaged in volunteer work in their communities in this period.
