Baxter highlights support for World Haemophilia Day
Baxter has highlighted the ongoing work it is doing to support haemophilia patients as it marks World Haemophilia Day today (April 17th 2013).
The company – which is the founding sponsor of the World Federation of Haemophilia's Global Alliance for Progress (GAP) programme – is committed to researching new ways of reducing bleeding episodes among sufferers of the disease
Through the GAP programme, Baxter has donated more than 16 million international units of medicinal products over the past three years via humanitarian aid partners.
It has also made educational materials available online for patients and is constantly looking into means of addressing disparities in care quality among the approximately 400,000 people living with haemophilia worldwide.
Brian Goff, leader of Baxter's global haemophilia organisation, said: "Baxter's vision for the future is the pursuit of a bleed-free world … working with the haemophilia community to help redefine what may be possible for those living with bleeding disorders."
World Haemophilia Day is organised by the World Federation of Haemophilia, with support from healthcare companies including Baxter, Bayer, Pfizer, Novo Nordisk and Biogen Idec.
