BDTA survey reveals fall in practice procedures
The British Dental Trade Association (BDTA) has published results from a survey revealing that volumes of practice procedures have fallen in 2010 compared to the year before.
According to data from the poll, 66 percent of respondents carried out more than 100 oral examinations during an average month last year, down from 85 percent in 2009.
It was also discovered that cosmetic procedures, including inlays, tooth whitening and veneers, experienced declining volumes during the last 12 months.
These conclusions were reached after more than 300 dentists participated in the BDTA survey, which was conducted via post and online towards the end of 2010.
Other findings from the study showed that a growing number of practitioners invested in intra-oral cameras, digital sensors or phosphor plates and panoramic digital sensors last year.
Moreover, the BDTA was able to donate five pounds to the charity Bridge2Aid for every questionnaire completed, with its total contribution coming to nearly 1,000 pounds.
