Biogen Idec supports MS awareness event
Biogen Idec is supporting a global initiative to raise awareness of multiple sclerosis (MS) through a number of community projects and events.
To mark the second annual World MS Day, the pharmaceutical company is to sponsor a variety of conferences, yoga classes and PR campaigns taking place across Europe, the US and Asia.
They are designed to educate the public on the realities of living with the disease, as well as encouraging improved systems of support for sufferers in workplace environments.
Dr John Richert, vice-president and senior fellow of neurology research and development at Biogen Idec, said: “Biogen Idec is committed to bringing hope to the MS community by developing more effective and convenient therapies for those living with MS.”
The company offers a variety of treatments designed to combat the symptoms of the disease, including Avonex and Tysabri.
This week, it commenced enrolment for a clinical trial of its developmental MS therapy daclizumab, in association with collaborative partner Abbott.
