bioMerieux opens its 36th subsidiary
bioMerieux is opening its 36th subsidiary in Johannesburg, South Africa.
According to the company, the move will provide diagnostic solutions to all of sub-Saharan Africa, an area where its products have been sold since 2001.
bioMerieux will continue to work closely with Omnimed, the company which previously distributed its products in South Africa.
Stephane Bancel, bioMerieux chief executive officer, said: "With an historic commitment to the fight against infectious diseases, it is only natural for bioMerieux to reinforce our presence in South Africa.
"We are very proud to have been entrusted with all of the country’s HIV viral load monitoring and will continue to provide molecular diagnostics and other advanced solutions to meet the region’s healthcare challenges."
The vitro diagnostics company will also enter into a number of partnerships with local research centres and extend its customer training activities.
The company stated that they have "been committed to the fight against aids for 20 years" and will continue to do so by building a global alliance with other companies to improve disease management for AIDS patients.
bioMerieux has produced in vitro diagnostics systems for approximately 40 years.
Last month it became the first in vitro diagnostics company to open a subsidiary in Algeria.
