BioMerieux receives CE Mark approval for Vidas 3 system

BioMerieux has announced that its new Vidas 3 automated immunoassay system has been granted European regulatory approval.

Vidas 3 is the latest next-generation addition to a range of products that has the largest installed base of automated immunoassay systems in the world, with more than 27,000 instruments currently being used by clinical laboratory professionals.

The new version features enhanced automation, improved traceability and new software capabilities, plus a quality control programme in compliance with laboratory certification standards.

It has been developed using feedback from 1,500 immunoassay laboratories, with nearly 200 intentions to purchase the instrument having already been received at congresses where Vidas 3 has been demonstrated.

Francois Lacoste, corporate vice-president for BioMerieux's immunoassay unit, said: "We are now able to provide biologists with an instrument that combines innovative technology and over 20 years of expertise acquired with the previous generations of our immunoassay platforms."

This comes after the firm received US approval for its new THxID-BRAF Companion Diagnostic Test last month.
