Biotronik launches Ilesto 7 devices in Europe

Biotronik has announced the European launch of its new Ilesto 7 series of implantable cardioverter defibrillators/cardiac resynchronisation therapy (ICD/CRT) devices.

These are the first DF4 ICD/CRT devices approved for use with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology, with the range including one of the world's smallest ICDs as well as offering unprecedented longevity.

Thanks to the new DF4 connector system, implantation procedures can be simplified and shortened, resulting in greater comfort for the patient and enhanced cosmetic results.

Patients using these devices can also benefit from remote monitoring using the Biotronik Home Monitoring system, which aids the early detection of clinically relevant events and reduces the number of in-office follow-ups.

Christoph Bohmer, international president of Biotronik, said: "Our patients have the peace of mind that their device and thus their cardiac health is constantly being monitored through Biotronik Home Monitoring."

Earlier this month, the company's DX System implantable cardiac defibrillator solution was chosen for display at the US Premier healthcare alliance's 2013 Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition, thanks to its innovative nature.
