BMI Healthcare aims to raise awareness of physiotherapy
BMI Healthcare has urged people not to "suffer in silence" if they have health issues that could be treated with a course of physiotherapy.
Specialists at the BMI Albyn Hospital in Aberdeen are seeking to raise awareness of the value of the technique in treating pelvic floor dysfunction, musculoskeletal problems and osteoporosis.
A recent study from BMI Healthcare found that one in two Scottish women have suffered needlessly from a weak pelvic floor, which is one condition that can be addressed through physiotherapy sessions.
Yvonne Wotherspoon, lead women's health physiotherapist at BMI Albyn Hospital, said: "A lot of women put up with health complaints that they shouldn't have to as they don't realise how easy they are to treat."
She added that research has shown physiotherapy to help patients suffering from incontinence in 79 percent of cases.
Physiotherapy is one of several clinical support services available at the BMI Albyn Hospital, along with laboratory, imaging, pharmacy and audiology.
