BMI Healthcare issues advice over cosmetic surgery
BMI Healthcare has responded to the latest increase in cosmetic surgery procedures by advising patients to ensure they make informed decisions.
The company issued a series of tips after figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) revealed that procedures have gone up by nearly six percent on average.
According to the figures, breast augmentation continues to be the most popular procedure and male surgery now accounts for ten percent of all cosmetic operations.
In response, BMI Healthcare said patients should think about whether they are making the right decision and check their surgeon's credentials before they go ahead.
The private hospital company also reminded people to be wary of prices that seem too good to be true.
It added: "In the current climate it is even more important that patients looking to have cosmetic surgery do not make a decision based solely on price."
BAAPS has called for the advertising of cosmetic surgery to be banned, as the organisation believes it trivialises the process and could endanger patients.
