Boehringer Ingelheim announces change to board of directors
Boehringer Ingelheim has announced that Dr Wolfgang Baiker is to become a new member of its board of managing directors.
Dr Baiker will join the board on June 1st 2013 and will assume responsibility for biopharmaceuticals and production from July 1st. He havs been with the company since 1989, holding various key administrative positions.
He will act as the successor to Professor Wolfram Carius, who has decided to step down from his position on the board and leave Boehringer Ingelheim on June 30th after spending more than 26 years with the firm.
A joint statement from shareholders' committee chair Christian Boehringer and chairman of the board of managing directors Andreas Barner said: "We would like to thank Professor Carius for his thoroughly committed and very successful contribution to the company over many years."
Last year, Boehringer Ingelheim was able to achieve an 11.5 percent year-on-year increase in sales, while also expanding its global workforce by five percent to more than 46,000 employees.
