Boehringer Ingelheim’s Ingelvac CircoFLEX used in one billion pigs

Boehringer Ingelheim has announced that its Ingelvac CircoFLEX has now been used in one billion pigs.

Veterinarians and farmers across the globe have been using it to protect their animals from Porcine Circovirus Disease (PCVD).

The vaccine was launched by the company in 2006 and has helped to create healthier pork for people to consume around the world.

Boehringer Ingelheim claims data shows Ingelvac CircoFLEX is now the most successful animal vaccine of its type in the world.

"PCVD is considered as being one of the most costly swine diseases – both from a herd health and an economic perspective," said the company in a statement.

Ingelvac CircoFLEX by Boehringer Ingelheim works from two weeks after vaccination, right through to slaughter.

It has been studied in over 100 clinical papers and the company stated that it minimises the risk of systemic and local adverse reactions when compared to its competitors in the market.
