Boston Scientific announces congress schedule

Boston Scientific has announced its schedule for the upcoming congress of the European Society of Cardiology.

The conference takes place in Germany from August 30th to September 3rd 2008 in Munich, Germany and the firm will be involved in a number of press announcements and major events.

It said it will announced 12-month data from its Syntax trial comparing coronary artery bypass graft surgery to percutaneous coronary intervention using the Taxus Express2 paclitaxel-eluting coronary stent system in complex patient groups.

The company is also due to present phase II and III data from the Olympia study and hold an intervention cardiology symposium and cardiac rhythm management workshop.

Keith D Dawkins, senior vice-president and associate chief medical officer at Boston Scientific, said: “Syntax is a landmark study that will provide the medical community the first and only critical data from a randomised clinical trial related to complex patients with left main and three vessel disease treated with drug-eluting stents.”

He added the patients enrolled in the study have advanced cases of disease and exceptionally complex anatomies, presenting the most challenging patient group studied to date in a drug-eluting stent trial.

Last month, Boston Scientific outlined the benefits of its Promus stent system, hailing its deliverability.
