Boston Scientific appoints new director
Boston Scientific has expanded its board of directors with the appointment of Dr Kristina Johnson as its newest member.
Dr Johnson will join the board on January 1st 2011 for the second time, having departed the company in 2009 in order to take up the role of undersecretary for the US Department of Energy.
She has accumulated a range of qualifications and experience in a wide variety of fields over her career, including science, technology, business and education.
Her re-appointment to the Boston Scientific board means the total membership of the body will increase to 13.
Pete Nicholas, chairman of the Boston Scientific board of directors, said: "We are very pleased to welcome Dr Johnson back to Boston Scientific … We are extremely fortunate to have someone of her intellect, talent and experience as a member of our board."
Last month, the company announced that it has agreed a deal to purchase Sadra Medical, manufacturer of the aortic valve replacement system Lotus.
