Boston Scientific completes IntellaTip MiFi XP Ablation Catheter study

Boston Scientific has announced the completion of a first-in-human clinical trial of the IntellaTip MiFi XP Ablation Catheter for the treatment for a certain type of cardiac arrhythmia.

The single-centre feasibility trial enrolled ten patients and was led by the University of Adelaide and the Royal Adelaide Hospital, with the aim of assessing the benefits the device can provide for those affected by type 1 atrial flutter.

A condition originating in the right atrium of the heart,  type 1 atrial flutter is associated with symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, fatigue, lightheadedness and fainting, and is regularly treated by catheter ablation.

The IntellaTip MiFi XP Catheter was shown to provide all of the benefits of a large tip catheter, while offering intuitive usage benefits and allowing significantly more detailed mapping.

This week, the firm will be presenting data from several new studies in this field at the annual scientific sessions of the Heart Rhythm Society in Denver.
